Staff Volunteering

Each off-season, the Anaheim Ducks, Honda Center and The RINKS staff take advantage of the summer months and give back to the local community through a staff volunteer program. Known as The Flight Crew, staff volunteered with Orange County nonprofit organizations American Family Housing, KidWorks, Orangewood Children and Family Services, The Friendly Center and YMCA of Orange County. 

Many of the children at American Family Housing have never had a birthday celebration, received gifts, or been sung "Happy Birthday" before, so as a company, we wanted to change that. Our staff organized an ice skating birthday party for children from American Family Housing at THE RINKS – Anaheim ICE on July 15th. Together, with the three birthday children and their families, staff members skated, enjoyed lunch, cake and presents - all to make this a birthday celebration that these children hopefully one they will never forget. 

American Family Housing provides a continuum of housing and an array of services to support homeless and low income families and adults to secure a stable home, to be an active part of their community, and to achieve a self-sustaining way of life.

On July 29th, Ducks, Honda Center and The RINKS staff, joined by the Anaheim Ducks Street Team and Wild Wing, put on a Ducks-themed carnival for children participating in KidWorks Summer Camp. The day included arts and crafts, street hockey, a bounce house and other fun games and prizes for the kids to enjoy alongside our staff volunteers. 

KidWorks serves over 800 children, youth, and parents through weekly programs and over 4,000 community members annually at four learning centers in central Santa Ana. KidWorks provides a fully licensed preschool, after-school programs, tutoring, mentoring, and adult services in the areas of health, parenting classes, and support groups.

Staff members tapped into their creative sides on August 15th, when they joined children from Orangewood Children and Family Services in an Anaheim Ducks hockey-themed painting activity. Both staff volunteers and Orangewood foster children spent the afternoon painting canvases with Ducks logos, hockey images and other unique artwork all while spending time getting to know each other and making new friends. 

Orangewood Children and Family Center is a 24-hour emergency shelter care facility, operated and owned by the County of Orange Social Services Agency for children who have been abused, abandoned, and/or neglected.

New to partner with The Flight Crew this year was The Friendly Center, which is a comprehensive family and community resource center dedicated to improving the lives of children, adults, and seniors by helping them move toward self-sufficiency through immediate aid and a variety of educational and life skill programs.  

To support The Friendly Center, staff volunteers assisted with food distribution on August 26th. Volunteers helped set up the food distribution area, unloaded around 8,000 lbs. of fresh produce and dry goods and distributed the food to between 100-200 families in need that waited in line to receive food. It was a great teamwork event all to help the greater good of the community and a very fulfilling experience for all that volunteered.

For the last three years, the staff have participated in the YMCA of Orange County’s Backpack and Supplies Drive, which ensures that hundreds of kids will start the year off right with the supplies they need to succeed. 

Thanks to the generous donations of the Honda Center’s Food & Beverage employees and Honda Center ushers and staff, we were able to help contribute to the YMCA of Orange County’s goal to distribute 1,000 backpacks and supplies to support the children and families in their afterschool care programs in Orange County and in their newest service area San Gabriel Valley.

It was a busy and productive off-season for The Flight Crew! The staff volunteer program is a great way for Ducks, Honda Center and The RINKS staff to learn about local nonprofits and the important services that they are providing the community; make a big impact to those in need and enjoy rewarding teambuilding experiences together.

Watch and Win Opportunity Drawing

The Anaheim Ducks Foundation held an Opportunity Drawing at the Ducks Watch Party at Honda Center on Thursday, April 21st. 

Tickets were sold for 1 for $5 or Arm’s Length for $20 and fans were also entered to win a variety of Ducks prizes.

Puck Chop’s Playoff Prizes

Surprise Puck
To support the Anaheim Ducks Foundation, the Ducks are selling a special edition Playoff Surprise Puck featuring a limited edition Anaheim Ducks playoff puck that will be sold at Game 1 on Friday, April 15th, in Section 212 for $30.

Fans will pick an individually wrapped puck at random and receive either a Ducks player- autographed commemorative puck or- for 10 lucky fans – an Anaheim Ducks autographed orange puck. The lucky winners of the Surprise Puck Sale will receive a variety of Ducks autographed items.

Playoff Pot
The Ducks will be holding our annual Playoff Opportunity Drawing to win Puck Chop’s Playoff Pot starting Round 1, Game 2. Fans can purchase raffle tickets at section 212 to be entered to win one of four great Ducks prizes. Winners will be selected at the start of the third period and must be present to win. Also, for each game you purchase Opportunity Drawing tickets, you will receive one entry to win the Playoff Grand Prize, a 2016-17 Pre-season Suite, which will be drawn at the conclusion of the 2016 Playoffs. All proceeds will benefit the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. 

Fan Appreciation Night Surprise Puck

To support the Anaheim Ducks Foundation, the Duckssold the fourth puck in this year's Surprise Puck Set on Tuesday, April 5, outside Section 212. Pucks were $30 and sold on a first come, first served basis.  Fans picked an individually wrapped autographed puck at random. Twenty-three lucky fans who picked the orange puck received an autographed stick from the player on the puck!

In addition, the fan that selected the SoCal Honda Dealers blue puck won an opportunity to receive a jersey off the back of an Anaheim Ducks player courtesy of SoCal Honda Dealers.

CHOC Night

On Sunday, April 3, the Anaheim Ducks and CHOC Children's hosted CHOC Night at Honda Center to help raise awareness and funds for the children's hospital, as the Ducks took on the Dallas Stars.

CHOC Children’s volunteers will once again sold the fan-favorite, limited edition stuffed Choco bears (the CHOC mascot) outfitted in an Anaheim Ducks replica third jersey autographed by a Ducks player for $65. CHOC Bears

All proceeds from the event benefited CHOC Children’s and CHOC Children’s at Mission Hospital.

OC Animal Care Night

At the February 21st home game against the Calgary Flames, the Ducks hosted OC Animal Care Night to raise awareness for OC Animal Care, an open-admission animal shelter that provides temporary shelter and medical care for lost, owned or stray animals, and opportunities for the adoption of these animals.

Fans interacted with adoptable animals from OC Animal Care and also donated new or gently used towels or blankets, pet toys or pet food for the shelter animals. The Anaheim Ducks Foundation also held an opportunity drawing to win autographed canvases featuring Ducks players with some canine friends. In addition, the evening’s silent auction proceeds will benefit OC Animal Care. 

As part of the OC Animal Night activities, the Anaheim Ducks Team Store powered by Reebok will feature Ducks pet merchandise and Cogs for Dogs apparel and headwear. Ducks forward Andrew Cogliano has taken his love of animals and created Cogs for Dogs, a program dedicated to raising awareness for the need for animal adoption and rescue at OC Animal Care. On OC Animal Care Night, each Cogs for Dogs apparel and headwear purchase will receive an Andrew Cogliano autographed 5x7 Cogs for Dogs photo. Don’t miss your chance to show your pets’ support of the Ducks and a portion of the sale of Cogs for Dogs merchandise will benefit OC Animal Care.

Anaheim Ducks Cogs for Dogs Adoption Event

Join us on Saturday, February 20th, for the Anaheim Ducks Cogs for Dogs Adoption Day at OC Animal Care! Come check out adoptable animals at the shelter and have the opportunity to meet Anaheim Ducks forward, Andrew Cogliano! The Ducks Cogs for Dogs adoption event will take place from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. featuring the Power Players and Ducks Street Team, with Andrew being available to meet and take photographs with fans from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.*

At the Ducks Cogs for Dogs Adoption Day, OC Animal Care adoptable pets will be available for a special adoption fee of $7** per animal, including a free spay/neuter, microchipping, flea treatment, deworming, vaccines and feline testing. This special rate, in honor of Andrew’s No. 7 jersey number, is courtesy of a generous donation by OC Animal Care and Andrew Cogliano. In addition, for the first 100 pets adopted at the Ducks Cogs for Dogs Adoption Day, adopters will receive an 8x10 autographed photo of Andrew Cogliano and a Ducks bandana for their new best friend!

Anaheim Ducks Surprise Puck Sets

To support the Anaheim Ducks Foundation, the Ducks are selling a commemorative series Surprise Puck Set featuring four limited edition Anaheim Ducks pucks. The third puck sale was held Friday, February 5th, in Section 212.

Fans will pick an individually wrapped puck at random and receive either a Ducks player- autographed commemorative puck or- for 23 lucky fans - a surprise Ducks player-autographed orange puck. The lucky winners of the Surprise Puck Sale will receive a special autographed item.

In addition to the 23 lucky orange puck winners, there will be one grand prize winner. The fan that selects the SoCal Honda Dealers blue puck will win a #17 Ryan Kesler autographed stick courtesy of SoCal Honda Dealers.

Anaheim Ducks Holiday Skate

The Ducks and The Rinks hosted a Holiday Toy Drive Skate Party on Wednesday, December 16 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at The Rinks - Anaheim ICE.

Fans that brought new, unwrapped toys, books and games skated for free that evening and were entered to win an Anaheim Ducks prize!

The Street Team also hosted fun holiday activities for kids, and guests had the opportunity to skate alongside Wild Wing and the Power Players.

Anaheim Ducks Toy Drive

The Anaheim Ducks got into the holiday spirit and called all Ducks fans to help spread cheer in Orange County this holiday season. The Ducks collected toys as part of the annual Anaheim Ducks Toy Drive at the December 2nd, 4th, 6th and 11th home games. The Lady Ducks- wives and significant others of players and Hockey and Business Operations executives- assisted Anaheim Fire Department to collect new and unwrapped toys, books and games to benefit the Spark of Love Toy Drive.  

Toy Drive drop off locations were also available December 1st-16th, at each of THE RINKS locations (Anaheim ICE, Corona Inline, Irvine Inline, Huntington Beach Inline, Westminster ICE, Yorba Linda ICE) as well as the Anaheim Ducks Team Store powered by Reebok. 

Each person that dropped off a donation at THE RINKS or the Anaheim Ducks Team Store powered by Reebok received a 2-for-1 public skating pass (limit one pass per person redeemable at any of THE RINKS locations).

Lady Ducks Ornament Auction and Sale

The Lady Ducks created one-of-a-kind holiday ornaments for each of the Ducks players that were auctioned at the December 6th home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

These Ducks collectibles made a great holiday gift for the biggest Ducks fans. The Lady Ducks also sold a limited number of Anaheim Ducks Foundation commemorative holiday ornaments for $15 each. All proceeds will benefited the Anaheim Ducks Foundation.

Military Appreciation Night

On Wednesday, November 11th, the Ducks honored the United States military personnel and veterans through Military Appreciation Night presented by Pacific Premier Bank at Honda Center. This special game night paid tribute to local military and their family members and raised awareness for local military nonprofit organizations, Defending the Blue Line and Veterans First. In celebration of Military Appreciation Night, all fans in attendance received an American flag courtesy of Pacific Premier Bank.

Opening Video

Ducks players wore camouflage Ducks jerseys during the pre-game warm-up for Military Appreciation Night and following the game, the camouflage jerseys were autographed and made available for fans to bid on as part of the Ducks online auction at www.anaheimducks.com/auction

As part of the Military Appreciation Night events, the Ducks collected non-perishable food items for Veterans First, an Orange County-based organization that provides services exclusively to our region’s homeless and at-risk veterans. Fans were encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable food to the Ducks in the Community booth located outside the Southwest and Northeast Entrances. 

The game night also included representatives from Defending the Blue Line, who took part in the evening’s in-game activities such as the Blue Line Skaters, Honorary Puck Drop, Honorary Duck, Stick Boy, Power Player, and the Community Hero Award. Defending the Blue Line ensures that children of military members are afforded every opportunity to participate in the game of hockey. They accomplish this by providing free equipment for military kids, hockey camps, special events, and financial assistance for registration fees and other costs associated with hockey.

Hockey Fights Cancer Skate Night

As part of this season’s Hockey Fights Cancer initiative, the Anaheim Ducks and The Rinks hosted Hockey Fights Cancer Skate Night on Wednesday, October 28th, at The Rinks - Anaheim ICE to help raise awareness for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and Movember.

Ducks fans enjoyed the evening’s open skate for $13 (which included a skate rental) in support of two great causes. All proceeds from the evening’s Skate Night will benefited the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and Movember.

Anaheim Ducks Street Team, Power Players, and Wild Wing were also in attendance.

Hockey Fights Cancer

The Anaheim Ducks hosted HFC Night presented by Loma Linda University Health on Sunday, October 18th against Minnesota. HFC Night raised awareness for Loma Linda University Cancer Center (LLUCC). As part of the game-night activities, the first 3,000 fans in attendance received lavender HFC awareness ribbons to show their support of the cause. Fans also had the opportunity to fill out “I fight for” cards throughout the Main Concourse to honor those that have battled the fight against cancer during a Moment of Recognition. 

Anaheim Ducks Foundation sold limited-edition Anaheim Ducks player autographed Hockey Fights Cancer mini sticks in support of Loma Linda University Cancer Center. Mini Sticks cost $20 each and were sold in the Hockey Spot. Sticks were sold on a first come, first served basis.

The Anaheim Ducks and LA Kings have come together this preseason to support two great causes.

On September 25th at Honda Center, both teams will wear red warm-up jerseys benefiting the Special Olympics Southern California and on September 29th at STAPLES Center, both teams will wear jerseys supporting the Hydrocephalus Association. All jerseys will be autographed and auctioned benefiting each respective organization.

Bidding for the Special Olympics Southern California jerseys will begin on Friday, September 25th at 5pm and will close on Saturday, September 26th at 5pm. C.A.R.E.S. Backpack Supplies Drive

The YMCA has a long history of helping those in the communities needing support. Last summer, YMCA of Orange County started a new tradition, the C.A.R.E.S. Backpack Supplies Drive to help hundreds of elementary-aged kids in their afterschool programs across Orange County. The fundraiser’s goal was to collect new backpacks and school supplies to help the kids start the school year off right with the essentials needed to learn. 

This year, the Anaheim Ducks and Honda Center held their own backpack and supplies drive for the YMCA and collected over 90 backpacks in hopes to help a child get excited and be prepared for the upcoming school year.  To learn more about the YMCA, please visit http://www.ymcaoc.org
