Year(s) as a Power Player: Second year
Occupation: FirstCarbon Solutions Receptionist and Biology Department Assistant
Why did you want to become a Power Player? Besides the fact that I get to be surrounded by awesome girls who love the Ducks just like I do, I also get to be a part of the action on and off the ice at each game! Hockey is my favorite sport, the Ducks are my favorite team and representing the Anaheim Ducks at various events just adds to the excitement of the job. Why would I not want to be a Power Player?!
What are you most looking forward to this season? Because it is the 20th anniversary season, I am looking forward to the special events that will happen throughout the season like the Throwback Night and the outdoor game in January. I also look forward to being a part of the Power Player calendar and cheering for the Ducks as they make their way towards that Cup!
Favorite part about hockey: My favorite part of hockey is how aggressive and fast-paced the sport is. I love the anticipation that most games bring and the dedication the players have even if it means fighting their way to a win (literally). This might sound weird, but I also love the smell of fresh ice and how excited our Ducks fans can get!
Favorite Ducks moment: Definitely being there when the Ducks won the Cup in 2007. My family has season tickets and we were all there together when it happened. Confetti was floating everywhere, gloves were flying in the air as the Ducks cheered in excitement, and the fans were going crazy!
If you played hockey, what position would you want to play? It is a close tie between goalie and forward. I am a pretty aggressive person, and I would like to be able to score goals, but growing up with an older brother who has played goalie would inspire me to do so as well. So much pressure is put on the goalies in hockey, so I have a lot of respect for them and what their position means for the team.
What do you in your free time? I love to be outdoors and enjoying nature, even if it means just lying on a blanket in my front yard. I enjoy hiking and I recently hiked Mt. Whitney with a few of my closest friends. I also love to run, write, be with family, read my Bible and play with my awesome cat Jasper.
What's something unique about you that most people don't know? I have a love for animals and an obsession with National Geographic and Animal Planet. When I was younger, I used to take notes in my journal when I would watch Steve Irwin episodes and documentaries on Nat Geo. My dream is to be a Wildlife Biologist and Conservationist one day and to do some type of research with the big cats in Africa.
Describe your personal style: I am a super laid-back person when it comes to my style. Growing up, I was a bit of a tomboy and I think some of that style has stuck with me. A pair of jean shorts, sandals and a tank is perfect for me. However, I do love to get all dressed up every now and then!
What do you do to stay fit? I genuinely enjoy activities that require working out and staying active. My favorite things to do are kickboxing, running, hiking, and strength training. I do something every day not only to stay fit, but also because it keeps my mind fresh and helps me to release any stress I might have.
What are some of the most played songs on your iPod? I don’t have an iPod, but I do listen to Pandora a lot! When I work out or run I listen to my Avicii or Skrillex station to keep me pumped, but when I am just hanging out in my room I like my Black Keys or Keith Urban station. When I read or write it’s all about the Celtic or Native American music! It just depends on what I am doing to determine what music I am listening to.
What are three things that you cannot live without? My running shoes, Chapstick and my Bible. I use all of these things on a daily basis!
Guilty pleasure: McDonald’s pancakes. I love going at midnight to get them sometimes! And I absolutely love dark chocolate. I have a constant supply at my house of those little Dove dark chocolate squares.
Go-to karaoke song: Land Down Under by Men at Work. It has been my ring back tone for years now and it will never get old.
Top bucket list item: To live in Namibia, Africa doing research with the native wildlife and helping to solve some sort of environmental issue that they might be facing.
Favorite place in Orange County: My favorite place has recently become Santiago Oaks Regional Park. I have spent hours hiking around in there, taking pictures and hanging out with some cool wildlife. It is like my little escape from the busy-ness of Orange County.
Favorite sport to play: I like shooting hoops at the basketball court, but my favorite sport is running. Yes, it is sport and it does take practice!
Favorite season: I love fall when the weather starts to cool down and the pumpkins start to come out. Actually, my favorite thing to do is light my pumpkin spice candle, put on my pajamas and get cozy with a chai tea, Jasper and my family.
Favorite holiday: Christmas. The day my savior was born, and the season when the all the lights and decorations come out! There is always something yummy to eat or drink and you can finally light the fire in your fireplace!
Favorite movie of all time: My favorite movie is absolutely Braveheart. Need I say more?
